FACILITIES MANAGER

I first came to CBC in 1986 as an 18-year-old. It is where I first encountered the overwhelming love of Christ through people living out their faith in this church.

I have been married for over 30 years to the current Mrs Sayles and have three grown up children. I am irritatingly proud of them all and given the opportunity will bore you senseless telling you all about them. I spent most of my adult life working as a Trade union representative until two years ago for reasons beyond my understanding I was offered a job here as facilities manager.The building is here to serve our community. It is modern and despite my best efforts still standing.

Neary 40 years after first being welcomed here I am delighted to say that though the building has changed and many of the people within it, the welcome is still as warm and full of the love of Christ as it has ever been. Come and say Hi.

ADIMINSTRATOR

Debbie came to work for the Church in June 2020 when the previous Administrator retired. She had worked for Tesco for the 28 years before, so it was a big change in environment. She is married to Malcolm and have 2 grown up children, Alissa, and Cameron. She enjoys crafts, particularly knitting and crochet and is a big fan of Harry Potter with a large Harry Potter Lego collection.

PASTORAL WORKER

Kathy grew up in Brazil where her parents were missionaries, and she later returned to Curitiba to work as a church / community worker. Kathy is married to Andy and they have 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, and a granddaughter. Kathy and Andy moved to Cirencester from France in 2016, and joined CBC.
Kathy has worked as a pastoral worker in a number of churches over the years. She loves praying with people and seeing God’s “immeasurably more”.
Kathy enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and visiting tranquil places.

PASTORAL ASSITANT

Ann-Rachel has been a member of CBC since 1980. She trained as a museum curator specialising in Antarctica and all things penguin and has the privilege of working 8 hours a week in a pastoral capacity, mainly with older people here at CBC. She is passionate about helping those who are now isolated feel involved and link with younger fol She loves crafting and co runs a craft business!

FUF’S TEAM LEADER

Steff moved to Cirencester from North London nearly 17 years ago. She is a qualified primary school teacher, having studied at Nottingham Trent University (previously Trent Polytechnic). Steff is married to David and they have 3 children: Bethany, Jethro and Tirzah. Steff has been the leader of Friday Under Fives for over 12 years. Her passion is to support pre-school parents and their children and show them God’s love.
Steff has many interests including playing the guitar, knitting, reading, singing in a choir, doing kakuro’s, watching films, caravanning with her family and doing jigsaws!

DEACON, TRUSTEE

Paddy became a Christian after being challenged to explain why he didn’t believe in God (by Katie, now his wife). The research to clarify his thoughts didn’t end as expected and he was baptised in 2008. As well as serving as a Deacon, Paddy is a member of Finance Committee and a crèche leader.

Outside of CBC, Paddy works in engineering, where he mainly tries to hide the fact that he’s not an engineer. Paddy and Katie have two teenage girls and a cockapoo called Harry. His interests include NFL, road cycling and crochet.

Originally from over the border in Wiltshire, Anna has been part of the wonderful CBC family since 2020. She is married to Andy and has two teenage children. She works as a fundraising consultant with a range of Christian and secular charities. In her spare time, Anna is chief family taxi driver and dog walker, but also enjoys music, a good book and time with friends. Together with Andy she helps to lead a house group and loves being part of the children’s ministry team. Anna is passionate about seeing people grow together in Christian community and supporting parents of children with additional needs.

Colin has lived in the Cirencester area since 2012, along with his wife Sharon, leaving his 3 children spread around the world (Poole, Birmingham and Seattle) with their wives and now 9 grand-children.
He has worked in IT since 1978 and is still in IT, now currently working for a national charity now in Swindon.
He has interests including model railway building, reading, and music, regularly attending gigs around the country.
He has been a deacon trustee since 2013 and until recently headed up the Sound & Vision team. He is passionate in providing sound and words, less so vision, so that congregants can worship our Lord Jesus Christ without hindrance. He also enjoys reading good commentaries.

Ben’s earliest memory of being a part of CBC is watching his parents Baptismal in 1980 at the old building in Coxwell Street. He is a young widow and Father to Mataya. He works as a Data Quality assessor Part time after spending 26 years in Retail Management. Before that he worked part time as a theatre technician for Cirencester’s Sundial theatre. He plays drums, loves F1 motorsport and listens to a wide range of music. Currently serving as a Deacon and on the Sound and Vision team, helped build our current stage in the Forum and has a passion for ensuring technology supports and enables worship and teaching.

Sam has been part of the CBC family since 2001 when Sam and his wife, Ruth, moved to Cirencester to begin their teaching careers. Sam has taught in primary schools and has been a Headteacher since 2011. He is an experienced governor and School Improvement Adviser.

Sam has been part of the leadership team at CBC in different roles: serving as an elder, co-leading a house group with Ruth, and leading the worship team. Sam has a passion for seeing Christians of all ages to meet with God in sung worship.

Sam lives in Fairford and can be occasionally seen jogging slowly around the lanes!

Caroline moved to Down Ampney with Michael in 1988 with one baby, and now have 4 adult children, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law and 5 grandchildren spread around the country. They love spending time with all of them and in retirement they are privileged to spend more time with them. Caroline has got increasingly involved with CBC throughout the years, particularly enjoying youth and children’s ministry but happy to help with anything. She took on being the church treasurer in 2009. She continues to love all sports and she still enjoys chasing a ball around, unfortunately not as well as she used to, but it is still bringing her as much pleasure.
